Personal Trajectory and Academic Background
Born in Istanbul, Seylan Kandak has explored various fields of fine arts. After earning a degree in photography, she pursued studies in photography and multimedia at Paris 8 University. In 2019, she obtained a master’s in fine arts and art education with distinction from Sorbonne University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in social sustainability and contemporary art at UPC in Barcelona, where she continues her work at Casa R.A.R.O.

Recent Works and Recognitions
Her painting Ovale is featured in Transitar la Resiliencia at Centre Civic Barceloneta. In 2022, her participatory installation Ephemeral Sculptures was exhibited at Can Framis Museum, Fundació Vila Casas. Her painting Correction of Randomness was selected for the 2022 Premio Centelles competition. In 2023, she presented her work at Centre Cotxeres Borrell, creating a participatory painting with the public.

Disproportionate is a piece of The Black Boards series which consists of contemporary drawings realised by the scratching technique into the oil paint.

At times, when lines encounter colorful marks, they transcend the boundaries of drawing. The ambiguity of time and space perception in this work adds a new dimension to this chaos.
